Four Police Officers, Civilian Killed in Suspected Lashkar-e-Jhangvi Attack in Dera Ismail Khan
Four police officers and one civilian were killed in a targeted attack in Daraban, a suburb of Dera Ismail Khan, on Monday morning, Shiite News reported. Pakistani Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi condemned the assault, calling it a “cowardly act of terrorism” against law enforcement.
Security officials attributed the attack to the banned extremist group Lashkar-e-Jhangvi (LeJ), known for its history of suicide bombings and anti-state violence in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province. While no group has formally claimed responsibility, LeJ’s involvement aligns with its pattern of targeting security forces.
The incident underscores persistent security challenges in northwestern Pakistan, where militant groups remain active despite counterterrorism operations.
