India: Telangana Government Declares Holiday for 15th of Shaban

The Telangana government has officially declared a holiday for Shab-e-Barat, which will be observed on February 14, 2025, Muslim Mirror reported. This date marks the 15th of Shaban, coinciding with the blessed birth anniversary of the Savior of humanity, Imam al-Mahdi, may Allah hasten his reappearance.

Unlike the previously scheduled holiday for Shab-e-Meraj, which was categorized as optional, Shab-e-Barat has been designated as a general holiday.

With the sighting of the moon confirming the date, Shab-e-Barat, also known as the “Night of Forgiveness,” will be celebrated with prayers and visits to graveyards in remembrance of deceased loved ones. Many people also observe fasting during this time.

Minority educational institutions often grant a holiday the day after Shab-e-Barat, allowing the community to commemorate this important occasion.
