Shia Cleric Maulana Nishan Ali Disappears Mysteriously at Islamabad Airport
Maulana Nishan Ali, a Shia cleric from the Kharmang district of Gilgit-Baltistan, was reportedly taken into custody by unidentified government officials at Islamabad Airport, local sources reported.
Maulana Nishan Ali, who has previously served as the imam of a mosque in the Syrian city of Daraa and as a teacher at a madrasa in Damascus, had relocated to Beirut after his home was attacked due to the deteriorating situation in Syria.
On Friday night, he arrived in Islamabad from Beirut with his wife and informed his family of his safe arrival. However, subsequent attempts to contact him were unsuccessful. According to family members, Maulana Nishan Ali was transferred from the airport to an undisclosed location. His mysterious disappearance has raised significant concerns among his family and the public, while the government has yet to issue a statement regarding the incident.
