RSF Shelling in El Fasher Leaves 10 Dead, 20 Injured
At least 10 civilians were killed and 20 others injured in artillery shelling by the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) in El Fasher, North Darfur on Wednesday, Anadolu Agency reported. The El Fasher Coordination of Resistance Committees reported that several areas, including the Saudi Hospital, were targeted during the bombardment.
El Fasher has been a battleground for intense clashes between the Sudanese army and RSF since May 10, 2024. The city serves as a crucial humanitarian operation center for the Darfur region, utilized by the UN and international aid agencies.
In a related development, the International Organization for Migration (IOM) reported that recent shelling has displaced 650 families from the town of Kabkabiya, forcing them to seek refuge within the town and across North Darfur. Since fighting erupted in April 2023, over 20,000 people have died, and more than 14 million have been displaced, according to UN estimates.
