Pakistan: 337 Killed in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa in 2023, Report Says

A report from the Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) reveals that 337 personnel and civilians have been killed in Pakistan’s Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) this year, with 616 others injured due to attacks by banned organizations, Aaj News reported yesterday.

Peshawar saw the highest casualties, with 103 police officers killed and 154 injured, alongside 103 civilian deaths. Dera Ismail Khan reported 63 security force fatalities, including 49 Frontier Corps personnel, and 124 injuries.

The report also noted targeted attacks on politicians, resulting in 4 deaths in Bajaur and North Waziristan. Overall, KP has experienced over 650 terror attacks this year, with Bannu and North Waziristan suffering 58 and 50 deaths, respectively. Additional fatalities were reported across various districts, highlighting a significant rise in violence in the region.
