Deadly RSF Attack in Sinnar Highlights Sudan’s Ongoing Crisis

On Sunday, a devastating attack by the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) in Sinnar, Sudan, resulted in the deaths of over 20 civilians and left more than 100 injured, according to local aid groups. The RSF shelled the Sinnar market and the Al-Muwazafeen neighborhood, prompting the Sudanese Doctors Network to label the incident a “massacre.”

The ongoing conflict in Sudan, which began in April 2023 between the military and the RSF, has claimed more than 20,000 lives over the past 16 months. The war has turned urban areas into battlegrounds and severely crippled the healthcare system.

Over 13 million people have been displaced, with 2.3 million seeking refuge in neighboring countries. Reports of atrocities, including mass rape and killings, have surfaced. Recent seasonal floods and a cholera outbreak have further worsened the humanitarian crisis, leading to urgent calls for international assistance and a cease-fire.
