ISIS/Daesh Claims Responsibility for Deadly Kabul Bombing
The ISIS/Daesh group has claimed responsibility for a bombing on a minibus in western Kabul, which resulted in one death and 11 injuries, including eight individuals requiring surgery, Arab News reported yesterday.
The attack occurred in a Shiite-majority neighborhood on Sunday, a community often targeted by the jihadist group.
The incident was reported on Daesh’s Telegram channel, highlighting their ongoing threat in Afghanistan despite a decline in violence since the Taliban took power in August 2021.
Emergency NGO, which operates a hospital in Kabul, confirmed the severity of the injuries, with one person in critical condition.
Daesh-Khorasan, the group’s Afghan branch, has previously claimed attacks against both locals and foreigners, raising concerns about its growing capabilities. Taliban spokesman Zabihullah Mujahid dismissed fears of Daesh’s resurgence as “propaganda,” asserting that the group has been significantly weakened and that Afghan soil will not be used to threaten other nations.
