Shia Rights Watch (SRW), an international organization dedicated to monitoring and defending Shia rights, has released its monthly report for March 2024, highlighting the most significant human rights violations affecting individuals and communities of Shia Muslims in several countries around the world.
The four-page report reviewed a series of terrorist operations, including armed attacks and bombings, as well as repressive acts and torture inflicted upon Shia communities in some countries.
The organization noted the difficulty in monitoring all reported violations, as its teams were only able to document some with the help of human rights activists and civil society organizations.
The report confirmed that there were many violations indicated by field evidence, but they could not be verified with corroborating evidence and witnesses.
The report covered the following countries: Pakistan, Bahrain, Saudi Arabia, and Iraq.
In Pakistan, the country witnessed a series of terrorist attacks and arrests due to political activities, the report said.
In Bahrain, the organization documented several cases of arrests and raids targeting activists and citizens for their participation in protests.
The rights group also recorded a series of arrests of human rights defenders and sports enthusiasts for expressing their opinions.
In Iraq, areas liberated from the terrorist organization ISIS witnessed a series of armed attacks and bombings resulting in civilian casualties.
SRW reaffirmed its commitment to monitor and document human rights violations and raise awareness among the international community about the conditions of Shia Muslims, emphasizing the need to protect and promote their legitimate rights.
