Five LEJ terrorists arrested for Shia targeting in Karachi

Karachi Police has revealed the identity and plots of 5 terrorists of banned outfit Lashkar-e-Jhangvi who were arrested from Super Highway. 

 

Karachi Police has revealed the identity and plots of 5 terrorists of banned outfit Lashkar-e-Jhangvi who were arrested from Super Highway. 

The terrorists had killed Shia Muslims and were planning to assassinate more Shias. The police said they had received intelligence that the LeJ militants were present at a place near Superhighway and were planning to assassinate an important personality from the Shia community. 

The terrorists were arrested on Friday night were identified as Farhan Shaukat, Nasir Khan, Adnan Asif, Sardar Aijaz and Qaiser Saeed. The police seized one 9mm pistol, four 30-bore pistols and two motorcycles from their custody.

During the initial probe, the held militants revealed that their ringleader was Qari Amin who lived in Bhittai Colony near Korangi Crossing who “motivated them for jihad and carrying out targeted killings of members of Shia community”.

However, after killing of Qari Amin, Sardar Aijaz was appointed as local chief of LJ, revealed the SSP. Aijaz had established a team which carried out targeted killings They were planning to assassinate a person belonging to the Shia community, said Senior Superintendent Police (SSP) Malir Rao Anwar Ahmed.
