Shabaan 28: Demise Anniversary of Grand Ayatollah Sayed Mahdi Shirazi

The twenty-eighth of the month of Shabaan marks the demise anniversary of the great religious authority Ayatollah Sayed Mahdi al-Shirazi, the father of His Eminence Ayatollah Sayed Sadiq Husseini al-Shirazi. 

 

 

The twenty-eighth of the month of Shabaan marks the demise anniversary of the great religious authority Ayatollah Sayed Mahdi al-Shirazi, the father of His Eminence Ayatollah Sayed Sadiq Husseini al-Shirazi.  

Sayed Mahdi al-Shirazi was born in the city of Karbala in 1887.His father was Mirza Habibullah. He started his education at the age 5.Later for higher education, he went to cities including Karbala, Najaf, Samarra and Kadhimiya. After completing his education and attaining degree of Ijtihad he returned to Karbala and remained in Karbala till his death. In Karbala, he started teaching high-level scientific and religious authorities. 

Some of his student are Sheikh Muhammad Karbasi, Sheikh Abdul Raheem Qumi and Syed Murtaza Tabatabei.

Ayatollah Mahdi Shirazi died in 1960 at the age of 73 and was buried in Imam Hussain Holy Shrine.
