Shia Muslims across the world on Friday attended ceremonies celebrating the birth anniversary of Imam al-Ridha, peace be upon him.
Thousands gathered at the holy shrine of Imam al-Ridha, peace be upon him, in Holy Mashhad, northeast Iran, to mark the auspicious occasion.
The pilgrims prayed and engaged in celebratory activities on the merry occasion.
Shias around the world held similar ceremonies in mosques, community centers and even street corners through chanting religious poetry, and distributing a variety of sweets and soft drinks.
Shia media outlets intermittently interrupted the regular programs to broadcast footage of the Imam’s holy shrine and celebrations underway in Mashhad and other cities.
