Yemen Tops Global Danger Rankings Amid Rising Conflict and Humanitarian Crisis
……………………
Yemen has been named the world’s most dangerous country in 2025, as conflict, foreign airstrikes, and a worsening humanitarian emergency drive the nation deeper into instability, according to the latest report by the World Population Review. The civil war, which has dragged on for over a decade, has left the economy in ruins and millions facing food insecurity and limited access to basic services.
The situation deteriorated further after the Gaza conflict broke out in late 2023, fueling wider tensions across the Middle East. Forces in Yemen have launched drone and missile attacks on commercial ships in the Red Sea, prompting retaliatory strikes from a U.S.-led coalition. A May 2025 airstrike on a migrant detention center drew international criticism. Although a temporary ceasefire was announced, Israeli strikes have continued.
The UK Foreign Office has warned British nationals against traveling to Yemen, confirming that its embassy in Sana’a remains closed with no emergency evacuation plans. Security analysts say threats to foreign nationals, including risks of kidnapping and violence, remain high.
With shipping routes disrupted and no diplomatic breakthrough in sight, Yemen now ranks above Afghanistan, Iraq, Libya, and Syria in global security risk assessments. International agencies are calling for urgent action to prevent further suffering and regional instability.
