Birmingham Residents Invited to Create New Quran Manuscript
The people of Birmingham are being called upon to help create a brand-new handwritten Quran manuscript, BirminghamLive reported yesterday.
Both Muslim and non-Muslim locals will have the opportunity to transcribe verses from the holy book onto special calligraphy paper at workshops hosted by the Museum of Islamic Arts & Heritage Foundation and Culture Forward, the source mentioned.
This initiative celebrates Birmingham’s historic connection to the Quran, as the city is home to one of the earliest known Quran manuscripts, which is housed at the University of Birmingham’s Cadbury Research Library.
The project, a part of the Birmingham’s Quran in the City programme, began during Ramadan and is expected to come to an end on June 1.
