A group of Shia clerics in Kumasi, Ghana, have pledged to implement public awareness programs that serve the Islamic nation and followers of the Ahlulbayt, peace be upon them, and to exert more efforts to bring the community towards development and progress.

According to My Liberty Mews agency “A group of Shia clerics held an important conference in Kumasi, Ghana, under the slogan “The Imam, the Nation, and Development” to discuss the latest developments on the Islamic scene and ideas and proposals that support and uplift communities on various levels.”

The Shia clerics affirmed that “the role of imams and clerics should go beyond traditional functions and move towards developing communities on the economic, religious, and cultural levels.”

A statement released by the conference participants explained that “the conference was very important and encouraged all imams and clerics at all levels to be committed believers in community development for the benefit of the next Muslim generation.”

The participants unanimously agreed that “as Muslims, they must have a collective strength that can help them face all challenges.”
