Grand Ayatollah Shirazi: Holy Prophet did not force anyone to accept his religion after victory

The daily scholarly meeting of Grand Ayatollah Shirazi was held on Wednesday, Muharram 21, 1445. In this meeting, just like the previous meetings, the Supreme Marja answered the questions of the attendees about various jurisprudence issues.

Grand Ayatollah Shirazi explained the verse “La ikraha fi al-din” and said: this verse is a law. He further noted that the Holy Prophet, peace be upon him and his family, never acted like other rulers who torture the people of the defeated army, or force them to accept their demands.

Commenting on the fact that the Holy Prophet merely engaged in defense and did not initiate wars in the dozens of conflicts imposed on him, his Eminence said: “When the Holy Prophet became victorious, he did not force even a single person to become a Muslim.”

Regarding idol worshipers, he further stressed that, even though the Holy Prophet broke the idols, he never forced anyone to give up idol worship and believe in the One God.
