Bahrain Human Rights

Members in the UK Parliament have launched a petition, ahead of the visit of the Crown Prince of Bahrain – Salman bin Hamd Al-Kalifah – to the United Kingdom, demanding more pressure on him to stop human rights violations.

The British MPs called, in the petition they signed, on the British Government to put more pressure on Bahrain’s Crown Prince during their meeting with him to release all political prisoners, to conduct an urgent review of the execution procedures, to re-impose a ban on death penalty and to respect human rights.

The MPs voiced their concerns over this visit, confirming that they continue to highlight that 1200 political prisoners are still in prisons, including: Abdul Wahab Hussein, Abdul Hadi Al-Khawaja, Sheikh Ali Salman, Hassan Mushayma and Abul Jaleel Al-Sanqis.

The parliamentarians also cited reports on the ill-treatment and prevention of medical services to be provided to the prisoners, condemned the large-scale oppression in Bahrain. They reiterated their fears of imminent executions based on trumped-up charges and forced confessions.
