Global Nonviolence Organization Urges OIC Ministers in Baghdad to End Wars and Promote Peace

The Global Nonviolence Organization (FreeMuslim) has called on foreign ministers from member states of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), meeting in Baghdad for the 52nd session of the Council of Foreign Ministers, to take concrete steps to end armed conflicts, resolve political disputes and strengthen peaceful coexistence.

In an open letter, the organization urged ministers to support an immediate and comprehensive halt to regional conflicts and prioritize dialogue and peaceful negotiations over the use of force to protect civilians and restore stability.

It also called for greater unity among Islamic countries, urging governments to put shared interests ahead of political differences and coordinate their responses to common challenges.

The organization further encouraged governments to invest economic and technological resources in improving living conditions, combating poverty and unemployment, and supporting education and scientific research.

The letter also stressed the need to combat sectarianism and hate speech through appropriate policies and legislation, while promoting mutual respect, social harmony and cooperation among religious and social communities.

The organization said Muslim communities were awaiting practical outcomes from the Baghdad meeting, expressing hope that the ministers’ decisions would help resolve regional crises and establish stronger foundations for peace, development and human dignity.
