People of Karbala Renew Mourning for Imam al-Sadiq (peace be upon him) in Holy Kadhimiya
———————————
The people of Holy Karbala have renewed their profound mourning for the martyrdom anniversary of Imam Ja’far bin Muhammad al-Sadiq (peace be upon him). A massive unified procession traveled to the Kadhimiya sanctuary in the capital, Baghdad, to observe the mourning rites at the holy shrine of Imam Musa al-Kadhim and Imam al-Jawad (peace be upon them both).
The Karbala procession joined crowds of pilgrims from within Iraq and abroad to mark the occasion. Voices rose with chants of loyalty and support for the oppressed Imam, while Husayni elegies (raddat) expressed the depth of sorrow and remembered the tragedies endured by Imam al-Sadiq (peace be upon him).
Organizers stated that a large procession from the people of Karbala, involving various Husayni bodies (hay’at) and districts (atraf), set out toward the shrine of the Kadhimayn Imams to commemorate the anniversary. They emphasized that this participation has become an annual ritual that Karbala’s bodies and processions have consistently upheld since 2003.
They further noted that service stations from the people of Karbala have been stationed along the routes of pilgrims heading toward Kadhimiya throughout the painful martyrdom days, providing all necessary services to the visitors.
It is noteworthy that Holy Karbala witnessed, on Tuesday morning, the departure of mourning processions by the city’s residents and pilgrims, which included a symbolic funeral procession carrying the coffin of Imam al-Sadiq (peace be upon him) to commemorate his painful tragedy.
