More details in the following report:

Religious institutions, media outlets, and believers marked the anniversary of Imam Jaafar al-Sadiq (peace be upon him) with messages of condolence and remembrance, highlighting his legacy as the source of Divine Knowledge and Guidance.

In a statement, the Shia Waves Agency extended condolences to the Holy Prophet, Imam Ali ibn Abi Talib, Sayyida Fatimah al-Zahra, and their line of Immaculate Imams (peace and blessings be upon them all), describing Imam al-Sadiq’s teachings as a “life map” that continues to guide believers. The statement emphasized the Imam’s role in establishing a major intellectual and scientific school and promoting values of piety, patience, and highest standards of ethics.

The Imamate of His Eminence lasted for 34 years and coincided with the final years of the Umayyad dynasty and the beginning of the Abbasid rule. It was an era in which, due to political conflicts and the weakness of government structures, a suitable environment was provided for scientific and cultural activities.

Under such conditions, Imam al-Sadiq (peace be upon him) founded an extensive scientific movement, dedicating himself to the elucidation of Islamic teachings, the correction of intellectual deviations, and the expansion of religious knowledge.

During this period, a large number of students were trained in his presence; according to some reports, their number reached approximately 4,000 individuals.

Imam Ja’far al-Sadiq (peace be upon him) was ultimately martyred on the 25th of Shawwal in the year 148 AH by the order of Mansur al-Dawaniqi via poisoned grapes. His pure body was buried in the Baqi’ cemetery alongside his noble father.

Commemorations were held across Iraq, including at the Al-Kadhimiya Shrine, where black banners of mourning were raised over the shrine’s domes to mark the occasion. The ceremony included Quran recitations and elegies recalling the Imam’s eternal legacy of scholarship and spirituality.

In Samarra, large crowds participated in a symbolic funeral procession carrying a coffin representing the Imam, in an event attended by officials, shrine staff, and visitors.

Alongside the commemorations, Shiite groups and activists renewed calls for the reconstruction of the graves of the Imams in Jannat al-Baqi, which was demolished by the followers of Saqifa.
