Shias in Ghazni Threatened Over Prayer Practices, Mosque at Risk of Closure

Local sources in the Nawabad district of Ghazni province reported that Taliban “Promotion of Virtue” officers threatened worshippers at a Shia mosque, instructing them to perform the Maghrib and Isha prayers separately and in accordance with Sunni jurisprudence.

Authorities reportedly warned that failure to comply with this directive could result in the mosque being closed and the worshippers detained.

Shia media activist Asif Akbari highlighted the incident on his Instagram account, noting that such measures have raised serious concerns about restrictions on religious freedoms for Shia communities in Afghanistan.
