Five people were killed after a helicopter crashed on Mount Kilimanjaro in northern Tanzania, the country’s civil aviation authority said on Thursday, Reuters reported. The victims included two Tanzanians—a mountain guide and a doctor—the Zimbabwean pilot, and two tourists from the Czech Republic, according to Tanzania National Parks.

The aircraft went down near Barafu Camp on Wednesday at an altitude of about 4,700 metres, officials said. Local media, citing regional police, reported that the helicopter was conducting a medical evacuation mission at the time of the crash. Mount Kilimanjaro, Africa’s highest peak, attracts around 50,000 climbers each year.
