International Nonviolence Organization calls on Moroccan authorities to release prisoners of conscience

The International Non-violence Organization, Free Muslim, called on the Moroccan authorities to adopt a more moderate policy towards its citizens who oppose its internal or foreign policies, calling for the release of all prisoners of conscience or those detained on charges or political issues.

The organization said, in a statement received by Shia Waves News Agency, that the Moroccan authorities are required to observe human rights in dealing with those who oppose government measures or policies, and to allow the right of expression away from silence or intimidation, and to work to spread a democratic culture in official and popular circles inside the country.

It stated that what raises its concern is the recording of a growing number of arrests of Moroccan activists and human rights defenders in recent times because of their activities, which the Moroccan authorities viewed with suspicion, a measure that it considers not guaranteed and does not require imprisonment or accountability, but rather dialogue, transparent discussions and justification responsible for government policies.
