Leader of Syria’s Alawites: Current Regime Has Failed in Its Core Duties; Federalism Is the Only Solution

Sheikh Ghazal Ghazal, the spiritual leader of Syria’s Alawite community and head of the Supreme Islamic Alawite Council, has criticized the performance of the country’s current authorities, stating that the ruling regime has failed to carry out even its most basic responsibilities.

According to Shia Waves Agency, citing Al Jazeera, Sheikh Ghazal stressed that the only viable solution to Syria’s ongoing crises lies in moving toward federalism and political decentralization.

In a separate statement, the Supreme Islamic Alawite Council also reported alleged links between certain security forces of the interim government and ISIS, describing these connections as a major obstacle to conducting an effective fight against terrorism.
