Baghdad Selected to Host “Expo Garden 2029” International Exhibition
……………..
Iraq’s capital, Baghdad, has been officially selected to host the “Expo Garden 2029” international exhibition, the Iraqi Prime Minister’s media office announced on Thursday. The decision was made following a vote at the 77th Annual Congress of the International Association of Horticultural Producers (AIPH) in Ghent, Belgium, where Baghdad’s proposal prevailed over bids from Thailand, Malaysia, Argentina, and Australia.
Prime Minister Mohammed Shia Al-Sudani praised the Iraqi delegation’s efforts over the past 18 months, which included hosting an AIPH inspection visit to assess the country’s readiness.
The statement said the event is expected to boost sustainable development, improve Iraq’s environmental profile, and enhance its global tourism and stability rankings. The exhibition will feature environmental, cultural, and entertainment activities showcasing Iraq’s rich history and heritage, with preparations already underway under Al-Sudani’s directive to ensure successful hosting of the global event.
