An explosion in Quetta, the capital city of Pakistan’s southwestern Balochistan province, resulted in the deaths of at least 10 people and injured several others on Tuesday.

According to Anadolu Agency, the blast occurred in the busy Pishin Stop area, located near the headquarters of the Frontier Constabulary, a paramilitary force.

Arbab Kamran, managing director of the Trauma Center at the Civil Hospital, reported that 10 bodies and 19 injured people had arrived at the facility. A police official confirmed the death toll to Anadolu Agency but did not disclose the precise nature of the explosion. Security forces immediately cordoned off the site of the attack and launched a search operation to locate those responsible. Balochistan Chief Minister Mir Sarfraz Bugti condemned the incident and labeled it a “terrorist attack.” No group immediately claimed responsibility for the blast. The mineral-rich Balochistan province has long been affected by violence and a low-intensity insurgency against security forces.
