Iraq: New Mass Graves for Yazidis Discovered Near Sinjar
…………….

Iraqi authorities have begun exhuming three newly-discovered mass graves belonging to the Yazidi community near the Sinjar district in Nineveh province. A joint team commenced operations in areas north of Sinjar, near villages previously overrun by ISIS after 2014. The action follows months of intelligence gathering and the recent identification of remains from one victim.

This latest discovery pushes the total number of mass graves found in and around Sinjar to over 90, containing the remains of hundreds of Yazidi civilians, many of them women and children. This highlights the scale of atrocities committed by the terrorist group against the community.

Despite ongoing recovery efforts, the fate of thousands of missing Yazidis abducted by ISIS remains unknown, more than 11 years after the humanitarian catastrophe. Documentation and exhumation efforts continue in collaboration with relevant authorities to ensure justice and accountability for the crimes committed.
