Commemoration of Imam Ali’s Martyrdom Highlights Pakistan’s Struggles with Injustice and Terrorism

On the occasion of the martyrdom anniversary of the Commander of the Faithful, Imam Ali (peace be upon him), Allama Syed Sajid Ali Naqvi expressed that this event marks one of history’s greatest tragedies, second only to the martyrdom of the Holy Prophet (peace be upon him and his pure family). He emphasized that after Imam Ali was struck by Ibn Muljam on the 19th of Ramadan, a voice echoed, lamenting, “By God, the pillars of guidance have fallen.”

Allama Naqvi stated that Imam Ali’s mission was to preserve the teachings of the Quran and establish a just system. He urged that Pakistan’s challenges could be addressed through a transparent and equitable government inspired by the principles exemplified by Amir al-Mo’mineen, peace be upon him. He called for the eradication of oppression, injustice, and discrimination, promoting unity and tolerance.

Senator Allama Raja Nasir Abbas Jafari remarked that the 21st of Ramadan is a dark day in history, marking the martyrdom of a leader who stood against injustice while praying.

Amid these reflections, Pakistan faces a surge in terrorism, now ranking second in the Global Terrorism Index (GTI) 2025. The report reveals a staggering 45% increase in terrorist attacks, with the Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) responsible for over half of the fatalities. Balochistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa remain the hardest-hit regions, highlighting the urgent need for effective governance and security measures.
