Grand Ayatollah Al-Sistani sends letter to Pope Francis, encouraging peaceful co-existence
His Eminence Grand Ayatollah Sayyid Ali al-Husseini al-Sistani has sent a letter to Pope Francis, following a letter he received from the latter on the second year of their meeting.
In his letter, the Grand Ayatollah Al-Sistani stressed the importance of being steadfast in belief in Allah Almighty and his messages and the commitment to high moral values to overcoming the challenges that humanity is facing.
He added in his letter, viewed by Shia Waves Agency, that “It is very necessary to emphasize the importance of concerted efforts to renounce violence and hatred and to establish the values of harmony between all people.”
His Eminence said that, “It is very necessary to exert more efforts to defend the oppressed people around the world, “noting that, “The tragedies suffered by many people play a role in the emergence of some extremist movements that attack others whose thought and faith is different from theirs.”
In his letter, the Grand Ayatollah Al-Sistani referred to the importance of combating deviant ideologies and to preserve the primordial nature man was created with.
