Over 30,000 Migrants Dead or Missing in Mediterranean
A major migrant rights group, Sea Watch International, reported that over 30,000 migrants have died or gone missing in the Mediterranean while attempting to reach Europe, Anadolu Agency reported yesterday.
The organization argues that the true number is likely much higher, attributing the rising death toll to the EU’s isolationist policies.
In a statement on X, they lamented, “The number of unreported cases lies at the bottom of the sea,” and called for urgent action from the EU. They demand “safe passage and freedom of movement for all,” condemning the ongoing humanitarian crisis as a tragedy of neglect.
