Muslim Students Protest Prayer Room Closure at Swinburne University

Muslim students at Swinburne University in Melbourne expressed their outrage after being locked out of prayer rooms on Friday, ABC News reported yesterday.

The closure forced students to pray in the atrium of the Hawthorn campus, as the Swinburne Islamic Society condemned the action as part of a broader crackdown on their religious freedoms.

The society emphasized the importance of access to prayer facilities for their community.

In response, the university announced that the prayer rooms in the Multi Faith Centre will remain closed on Fridays until members of the Swinburne Islamic Society can meet with staff to discuss the situation. This decision has sparked significant concern among students, who feel their rights to practice their religion are being undermined.
