Shirazi World Foundation issues statement on World Television Day

On the World Television Day, the Shirazi World Foundation issued a statement in which the Foundation said:

In recognition of the increasing impact television has on decision-making by bringing world attention to conflicts and threats to peace and security and its potential role in sharpening the focus on other major issues, including economic and social issues, the United Nations General Assembly proclaimed November 21 as World Television Day (through resolution 51/205 of 17 December 1996).

Television in our current era is no longer just a device that combines entertainment and information, but has become a philosophy based on spreading the idea in the form of attractive visual content to attract the widest segment of viewers around the world.

Television, in its various satellite and network forms, is an invaluable opportunity to disseminate content that contributes to human advancement at various levels.

In this regard, we remember the late Grand Ayatollah, Sayyid Muhammad al-Husayni al-Shirazi, may God be pleased with him, who was a model for the scholar who preceded his era, not only for his creativity and talent, but also for his boldness and insights on the issues of the time and he strove for the completion of his innovative theses with full certainty and confidence.

In the mid-nineties of the last century, the Grand Ayatollah moved to put forward the project of launching Shia satellite channels to spread the thought of Ahlulbayt (peace be upon them), expressing his regret at the time over the lack of activities of the followers of the Ahlulbayt school of thought in this field.

As we celebrate World Television Day, we stress on the importance of using it for the benefit of humanity and its noble values.
