CAIR calls on authorities to investigate attacks on Muslim protesters
The Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) has called on state and federal law enforcement to investigate a bias-motivated assault on those protesting in Los Angeles, California against persecution of religious minorities and caste discrimination in India.
The council said in a statement that the attackers harassed the protesters, chanting “stupid Muslims, get out”, holding protest banners and physically and verbally harassing the demonstrators.
“Every American has the right to protest peacefully without threat of violence and intimidation based on race, belief, or national origin,” said Hossam Aylush, executive director of the council.
He called on local, state and federal law enforcement authorities to investigate this bias-motivated attack and consider charges of hate crimes.
