Gunmen attack on Catholic church leaves at least 15 dead in Burkina Faso
Gunmen attacked a church in Burkina Faso, killing at least 15 Catholic worshippers in Essakane village, Aljazeera reported.
The incident, labeled a “terrorist attack,” left 12 dead on the spot and three others succumbed to their injuries later.
The region faces ongoing violence from armed groups, with some attacks targeting churches and clergy abductions.
A landlocked country in West Africa, Burkina Faso struggles with armed groups. Fighters have killed thousands and displaced more than two million people, further threatening the stability of the nation after experiencing two coups in 2022.
