The World Health Organization announced that Covid-19 is still a danger that needs more efforts in order to be confronted, and that facing this crisis requires the continuation of collective action around the world.
The organization stated that the Emergency Committee recognized, in its Friday meeting, that the further outbreak of the pandemic remains a threat to the world.
It noted that the organization’s warnings date back to last January, when it warned of the possibility of the virus becoming a pandemic even though the number of cases at that time was about one hundred cases.
WHO also warned that some countries thought they had crossed the stage of danger but were recently exposed to a new wave of outbreak, leading to many new cases.
The number of infected patients has exceeded 17 million worldwide, with more than 679,000 deaths.
