Thousands of boxes of dairy products and fresh produce were distributed Saturday, July 11, at the Courtland Center Mall parking lot in Burton to all who need it.

The food distribution event was hosted by the Michigan Muslim Community Council. It was organized in partnership with the Flint Muslim Food Pantry, American Muslim Community Services and the Stockbridge Foundation.

Adil Mohammed, executive director of American Muslim Community Services, said it’s part of a series of events made possible by a grant received from the U.S. Department of Agriculture. This is the third food distribution event held by the organizations.

“The food is free for anybody, there’s no income restrictions,” Mohammed said. “This is something special being done because of COVID-19.”

Mohammed encourages the community to spread the word of the free food distribution series.
