German public radio station has started broadcasting weekly programs on interpretation of the Holy Quran aiming to introduce the true Islam.
According to reports, the radio program is aired every Friday at 9:45 a.m. for five minutes. Seven experts in Islamic studies from different German universities, including six Muslims and one non-Muslim orientalist, present thematic interpretation of the verses in the program.
An official with the radio station said that the decision to broadcast the Quranaic program was made after the Charlie Hebdo attack in Paris and the resulting rise of Islamophobia in Germany and Europe.
Germany has the largest Muslim population in Western Europe after France. Approximately 3.0 to 3.5 million Muslims live in Germany.
