Climate change threatens one billion children in the world, rights group warns
The non-governmental organization “Kids Rights” warned Wednesday that the repercussions of climate change threaten one billion children around the world, expressing regret that the living standards of minors around the world have not improved over the past decade.
The Netherlands-based human rights organization said in an annual study that the Corona pandemic also had a significant impact on children, as they were sometimes deprived of food or medicine due to disruptions in the health sector, which led to the death of about 286,000 children under the age of five.
According to the Children’s Rights Index for the year 2022, for the first time in two decades, the number of working children in the world has risen to 160 million, which represents an increase of 8.4 million children over the past four years.
