Beijing also announced that the number of people infected with coronavirus in China exceeded 40,000, after it recorded more than three thousand new cases of the virus during the past 24 hours.
The National Health Committee said in its daily update of the death toll and injuries, the epidemic has so far affected 40,171 people in China.
Outside mainland China, to date, there have been only two deaths from the virus, one in Hong Kong and one in the Philippines.
The death toll from the epidemic is much greater than that of the SARS epidemic.
The World Health Organization announced that a team of international experts led by the organization went to Beijing to assist in the investigations related to the outbreak of coronavirus.
