Mirpur in Pakistan-controlled Kashmir was the worst hit, with 20 people killed and more than 300 injured, while a woman was killed and 20 others were injured in the neighboring Jhelum district in eastern Punjab province, local media stated.

The Pakistan Army Public Relations Service announced an immediate rescue operation to assist the Civil Administration, with the arrival of military forces supported by aviation teams and medical support to the affected areas.

Pakistani President Arif Alawi and Prime Minister Imran Khan expressed grief over the casualties and instructed the relevant authorities to take swift and special measures to provide relief to the victims.
