Muslim Congress employees rise up against Islamophobia and demand action from House leaders

Dozens of Muslim employees in the US Congress have called on House leaders to take action against Islamophobia, following a series of attacks on Muslim lawmaker Ilhan.
62 Muslim employees inside the Congress said in a letter that the anti-Islam statements made by US Representative Lauren Poibert against Muslim Representative Ilhan, as a joke, created a feeling of anxiety and fear.
The British (Middle East Eye) website reported, “The letter signed by 378 employees stated that we witness a lot of harassment and feel that our workplace is not safe and that we are not welcome.”
The message continued, according to the site, “We come to work every day knowing that the anti-Islam members and employees who insinuate that we are terrorists are with us in the same building.”
