The jurist Ahmad al-Wada’i published pictures of the lists of prohibited books in the notorious Jaw Central Prison in Bahrain, which included the Dua book of Dhiya al-Saleheen, and books related to Imam Hussein, peace be upon him, and Ashura.
The director of the Bahrain Institute for Democracy and Human Rights said in a tweet that what is being done against prisoners is a flagrant violation of freedom of religious beliefs.
The Jaw Central Prison is one of the worst prisons in which prisoners face multiple forms of torture and ill-treatment. The opposition and local and international human rights organizations believe that through harassment and abuse, security authorities are trying to retaliate against prisoners of conscience for demanding a transition to democracy.
