The FBI is investigating after gunshots were fired at an Islamic community center in Central Texas early Thursday.
Police in College Station said four shots were reported at the Islamic Community of Bryan-College Station around 4:30 a.m., KAGS-TV reported.
Glass near the entrance was shattered, and there was a bullet hole in a wall near the front doors.
“These kinds of things do happen, but we cannot let them stand in our way of worshiping God,” Anwer Ahmed said at a news conference, The Eagle reported.
No one was in the building when the shots were fired, and no one was injured.
Wednesday was Eid al-Fitr — the day Muslims celebrate breaking their Ramadan fast — but the community center’s president did not believe that was the reason the center was targeted.
