Shia Community Holds Celebrations for Auspicious Birth of Ali al-Akbar (peace be upon him)

A birth anniversary celebration for Ali al-Akbar (peace be upon him) was held at the Beit al-Hussein Hussainiya in Melbourne, Australia, drawing dozens of members of the Shia community. The event, organised by the centre, affiliated with Grand Ayatollah Sayyid Sadiq al-Husseini Shirazi, featured speeches and devotional recitations, during which participants learned about the moral virtues and life of Ali al-Akbar (peace be upon him).
The occasion, coinciding with the 11th of Sha‘ban in the Islamic calendar, is widely observed by Shia Muslims internationally as the birth anniversary of Ali al-Akbar (peace be upon him), the son of Imam al-Hussein (peace be upon him) and an exemplar of youth, courage and devotion.
Similarly, major religious gatherings have taken place in other regions, including India and Pakistan.
At the shrine of Imam Ali (peace be upon him) in Holy Najaf, pilgrims and devotees held celebrations with prayers, recitations and cultural programming to mark His Majesty’s birth anniversary.
In Afghanistan, centres affiliated to the Supreme Religious Authority also held commemorative events during the month of Sha‘ban, with religious ceremonies and charity activities dedicated to Shia sacred occasions.
