At least eight people were killed and 11 injured after a gas pipeline blast and fire in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa in northwest Pakistan, Khaama Press reported.

The explosion occurred in an industrial area, triggering a fire that spread to nearby surroundings and caused panic among residents.

Local authorities said several of the injured were taken to nearby hospitals, with some reported to be in critical condition. The explosion also damaged residential houses close to the site, with flames spreading to nearby buildings and causing property losses.

Industrial accidents involving gas pipelines are not uncommon in parts of Pakistan, where aging infrastructure and safety challenges have raised concerns in recent years.

Authorities have previously called for stricter safety standards and improved monitoring systems to prevent such incidents.

Officials said investigation teams have been deployed to determine the exact cause of the explosion, including possible technical faults or leaks.
