Holy Karbala announces the participation of more than 6 million pilgrims in the painful commemoration of Ashura

The Province of Holy Karbala announced the participation of more than 6 million pilgrims in commemorating the martyrdom of Imam Hussein, peace be upon him, on Ashura.

Deputy Governor Ali Al-Mayali said in a statement, “The number of pilgrims to the province of Holy Karbala on the day of Ashura has reached more than 6 million.”

He added, “The security forces deployed more than 20 thermal cameras in the province,” stressing that “not a single breach occurred during the visit, and it is evident in the success of the security plan.”

He explained, “The number of processions reached about 2,200, with the participation of more than 2,000 municipal workers from the Karbala province center, and 500 transport vehicles, as well as the participation of 30,000 security personnel.”

Al-Mayali added that the province suffered from electricity and water shortage.
