Nearly four million international pilgrims from around the world have entered Iraq since the beginning of Muharram to participate in the Arbaeen pilgrimage of Imam Hussein (peace be upon him), as millions continue to arrive ahead of the annual religious gathering.
According to the Iraqi News Agency (INA), Lieutenant General Saad Maan, head of Iraq’s Security Media Cell, announced that close to four million pilgrims from 172 countries have entered the country through border crossings since the start of Muharram.
Maan stated that the pilgrimage movement has proceeded in an organized and smooth manner, with security and service plans being implemented continuously by Iraqi government institutions and Hussaini service processions.
He added that authorities and volunteer groups are working around the clock to facilitate pilgrims’ movement, provide necessary services, and ensure a safe environment for participants attending the world’s largest annual religious gatherings in Karbala.
