Taliban Forces Raid Office of Afghanistan’s Shia Television Network Tamaddon in Kabul, Halt Its Broadcasts

The management of Afghanistan’s Shia television network, Tamaddon TV, announced in an official statement that its broadcasts were completely suspended on the morning of Tuesday, June 23, 2026, following a raid by Taliban security forces on its headquarters in Kabul.
According to Shia Waves Agency, the network’s officials shared the news on social media and called on the faithful and mourning people of Afghanistan to follow the development closely and remain alert to upcoming events.
This is the second hostile action taken by the Taliban authorities against Tamaddon TV.
Previously, the Taliban’s Ministry of Justice attempted to seize the properties belonging to the network and the Khatam al-Nabiyyin seminary, claiming that the land was state-owned. That attempt failed at the time following peaceful civil resistance by Afghanistan’s Shia community.
The sudden suspension of the religious broadcaster during the month of Muharram has sparked strong reactions from citizens and cultural activists.
Critics have described the move as part of systematic pressure on independent media outlets and followers of Shia Islam in Afghanistan.
However, Taliban officials have not yet provided any explanation for the raid on the center or the suspension of its activities.
