……………….
Iran’s Road Management Center announced that more than 141,500 pilgrims crossed into Iraq during the first three days of the Arbaeen visitor transport project, from July 25 to 27, according to IRNA. Over 87,000 Iranian and foreign pilgrims departed Iran through six designated land border crossings, including Mehran, Shalamcheh, Jazab, Khosravi, Bashmaq, and Tamarchin.
Meanwhile, approximately 54,400 pilgrims returned to Iran during the same period via these border points after visiting the holy shrines. The report highlighted Mehran, Shalamcheh, and Jazab as the primary exit points, with Shalamcheh, Mehran, and Tamarchin leading for returning visitors.
More than 27,000 pilgrims were transported to border crossings using over 1,600 domestic land transport trips to facilitate their departure to the sacred sites. Earlier projections by the Deputy Head of Iran’s Road and Transportation Organization for Technology and Digital Transformation anticipated a 5% increase in Iranian pilgrims crossing the land borders this season, expecting a total of approximately 3.7 million visitors during the Arbaeen period.
