Iraq’s Interior Minister: Flexible Security Plan Developed for Imam Al-Kadhim Pilgrimage

Iraq’s Interior Minister Abdul Amir Al-Shammari announced the implementation of a flexible security plan to ensure the safety of the pilgrimage commemorating the martyrdom of Imam Al-Kadhim (peace be upon him), Iraqi News Agency reported.

According to INA quoting Al-Shammari, the Government have developed a flexible security plan to secure the pilgrimage to honor Imam Al-Kadhim (peace be upon him). He has also noted that all necessary services for pilgrims traveling to the holy city of Kadhimiya have been arranged.

It also cited Lieutenant General Walid Khalifa Al-Tamimi, commander of Baghdad Operations, that there have been no disruptions in executing the security plan for the pilgrimage. He explained, “The Baghdad Operations Command has prepared its strategy to secure the Rajab pilgrimage on the anniversary of Imam Musa al-Kadhim’s martyrdom, focusing on securing the routes for pilgrims. This involves participation from various security forces, including the Interior, Defense, and Popular Mobilization Forces, along with intelligence support.”

The plan includes preemptive measures, such as searching orchards and abandoned buildings to secure areas that could be targeted. Control headquarters will be established at Baghdad’s entrances and in areas where pilgrims gather. The statement assured that there would be no road closures during the visit, allowing for smooth traffic flow.

Additionally, a service plan has been coordinated with the Baghdad Municipality and local governorate, alongside a transportation plan involving the Ministry of Transport and resources from the Ministries of Defense and Interior, as well as the Popular Mobilization Authority.

It should be mentioned that the Holy Shrine of al-Kazimayn has already been draped in black mourning banners and flags, and service stations and Mawakib have been set up to serve the pilgrims and visitors of the seventh Imam from the pure progeny of the Holy Prophet, peace be upon him and his family.
