Al-Abbas Shrine Prepares Umm al-Banin Courtyard for Arbaeen Pilgrimage Visitors
The Arts and Crafts Department of al-Abbas Holy Shrine is actively preparing the Umm al-Banin (peace be upon her) courtyard to provide optimal services for visitors during the blessed Arbaeen pilgrimage.
In a statement reported by the Shia Waves Agency, Engineer Ammar Salah Mahdi, the Deputy Head of the Department, noted that as part of the shrine’s preparations for the Arbaeen pilgrimage plan, teams have begun work on the Umm al-Banin courtyard, located near the Abal-Fadl al-Abbas (peace be upon him) courtyard, to create additional space for the influx of pilgrims to Karbala.
Mahdi emphasized that al-Abbas Shrine has decided to utilize the Umm al-Banin courtyard despite it being under construction, with various departments collaborating to prepare the site for this purpose.
He added that among the department’s initiatives is the preparation of the courtyard’s basement with partitions and surrounding structures to facilitate lighting, ventilation, and cooling systems. This includes creating pathways connecting Bab Baghdad to the holy shrine to ease the flow of visitors and reduce congestion.
Furthermore, Mahdi highlighted that the department is working on setting up accommodations in the Umm al-Banin courtyard for female visitors, as well as preparing an outdoor hospitality area near the entrance of Abal-Fadl al-Abbas (peace be upon him). Additionally, six mobile health centers are being established as part of the Umm al-Banin medical facilities.
The department is also conducting special maintenance on sanitation facilities and constructing a bridge near the Imam al-Hasan al-Mujtaba (peace be upon him) Gate to facilitate the movement of visitors toward the Imam al-Mahdi (may God hasten his reappearance) Gate, helping to avoid congestion during the passage of mourning processions, according to the Deputy Head of the Department.
